Here's an idea that was posted on the old forum about upgrading the tracks on Soviet vehicles to better simulate the 'waffle' pattern used by the Russian tank factories: it's real simply and easy to do, using nylon screen mesh, the stuff that stops bugs flying in your windows every summer.
Just a cut a strip and use a fast setting glue to stick it around the existing treads - no other prep work is necessary. When painted and ink washed, the look is surprisingly effective! Here's what I mean
