Zirrian's Armourfast

Post by zirrian » Sat May 18, 2019 10:37 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a couple of AF kits, and thought people here might be interested in seeing them. First, a Firefly I bought 6 years ago, assembled and painted it badly, gave it away, then this February bought a large collection from an acquitance, and somehow the same Firefly was in it...so I added a better commander, some stowage, a new paintjob, and she's almost ready to battle.

Next step is weathering, matte varnish and basing.

Besides this, I have an already completed Panther, M10 with British crew, some T-34s, and perhaps 1-2 I forgot about. Nothing fancy and noteworthy to be quite honest, but if there's interest, I can take photos of them. In the pipeline there's a StuH, two Pz IV Ds, some more T-34s, a Hellcat, M4A3s, and that's about it.

Thanks for making these kits available, I started out with them. Now I'm building kits from Dragon and Modelcollect, but occasionally I like to return to some Armourfast kits and paint them properly. Here's hoping you will release something interesting this year!

I need to add some aerials and base it, but otherwise it's done :)

Thank you! In my close future I see a Hellcat that I already assembled and stowage'd up :)

A StuH 42 I've painted yesterday. Commander is a random model from my collection, I have no idea where he came from. Used some masking putty for the camo, and did some panel highlighting with an airbrush, overall I think it turned out nicely, especially for a model I've spent only like 3-4 hours on :)

And while I really appreciate complicated model kits like Dragon, UM and the such, I enjoy painting up the occasional Armourfast model quickly, and once done, they look really nice.

Love the painting on these kits, the weathering is great as well! Do you have more you can share with us?

I have some other AF models I've painted, but they were done some time ago, and don't look that good. However, if you'd like to see my other stuff too, I have a Facebook page at Zirrian Fest/Zirrian Paints

Thanks again! I think I'll probably take out the Hellcat I've started some months ago and finally put some paint on it :)
